I recently received some fan email (which was so awesome.) The writer wanted to know why I write apocalyptic fiction when there are so many genres to choose from. She too, wanted to write end of the world stuff, but she was really interested in why I write what I write. So, here is an honest answer. I believe I write apocalyptic fiction because I lost my dad when I was very young. In the space of one day my entire world was destroyed and I've spend the rest of my life trying to survive it. Now, my heroines must navigate their way through disaster, both natural and man made. In Gemini Rising, a mysterious tenth planet causes Earth to flip on its side and Kate must discover how to navigate a new world nothing like her old one. In Gemini II, due out this October, our heroine must make her way across a multitude of worlds in a desperate attempt to get back to Noah and the children. In Gemini III, the final episode, Lucia will find her way across Earth attempting to bring harmony to the universe. Will she succeed or will there be another apocalypse? You'll have to read the book to find out. Those three books were easy to research. A little math, a lot of imagination and some interesting days researching past history got me addicted. Then I added a little wine and chocolate for some fun. In A Shadow of Time, once again worlds collide creating a new one out of which our heroine, Kellyn, must learn to navigate. A recurring meme in all my books is facing life, tackling fear and surviving. And that is why I write apocalyptic fiction, Shelly. Thank you for asking. :) Comments are closed.
