It was great to wake up to an award the first day of the new year. Nah, it was better than great. It was heartwarming and fun. Rarely do authors get recognized. We plod away at our manuscripts, writing, editing, rewriting, re-editing etc. Some people love my characters and some people hate them.
As I've said before, it is hard putting yourself out there because many of the feelings, hardships, and conflicts people read about in my books are straight from my heart. God blessed storytellers with fragile emotions because they must be able to communicate those feelings to paper. I hope I've done so. When I think of the word occult, I think of someone like Aleister Crowley an English occultist, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist, and mountaineer and an all around scary person. If you choose to read about him you will discover he really isn't a nice either. Also, occult is used, loosely perhaps, toward worshiping Satan. Ewe. I don't even like writing the name. But, after consulting Wikipedia (the foremost authority of everything) /sarc, I discovered occult really means relating to magic, astrology, or any system claiming use or knowledge of secret or supernatural powers or agencies. Obviously Author Classifies knows more about the occult than I do. In addition occult means: 1. secret; disclosed or communicated only to the initiated. 2. hidden from view. 3. not apparent on mere inspection but discoverable by experimentation 4. of a nature not understood, as physical qualities. 5. dealing with such qualities; experimental: occult science. 6. beyond the range of ordinary knowledge or understanding; mysterious. My books are very epic, spiritual, apocalyptic, and in no way dogmatic so the word occult is dead on. A Shadow of Time is about a young woman who inherits her husband's family home. She has never had a family so creating and keeping tradition alive is important to her and through her to her son and unborn child. She wants to make sure they know where they came from, who they are, and where they are going. This obsession places her and her family in mortal peril. She will literally walk through the fires of hell (and multiple dimensions) to find the family of her dreams. Kellyn has several realities to pull together so her dimension will heal. In order to accomplish her goal she must destroy the djinn that guards the portal of time. Shenahobet is, to her, a nonsense creature whom she will only recognize in Native American tales. It is her path to wake up from her stoic past and step into the chaotic world of multiple dimensions, creatures, and powers she has only dreamed about but never believed. I hope you enjoy the read. And please leave a review. I have eleven but need twenty-five for Amazon to promote A Shadow of Time. Thank you! Comments are closed.
