Waiting for results doesn't mean sitting on your butt

2/24/2019

I went back and read my previous post. Talk about a Debbie Downer. Instead of sitting around the house waiting for biopsy results which will more than likely be perfectly fine, I got my butt off the couch, grabbed the grandkids, and headed off to the Empire Mine. All of us find hanging out at the mine to be a peaceful, fun, and interesting pastime. I get to play with rocks and the gkids get to hit each other with snowballs. It truly was a lovely day and since I've been working out at the gym my stamina has increased allowing me to enjoy my time instead of sucking air trying to breathe. My heart still does these random 'let's go fast and scare the shit out of her speeds', but for the most part, I was pretty much OK.

The Empire Mine in Grass Valley, CA is located just a few minutes from where we live. It was the first mine in the nation to have electricity and the original house still stands. We've done near a dozen of the tours, but the cookies at the end make it all worthwhile. This time they had the blacksmith working and we watched him make a plant stand. Actually it was the fire that drew us so we got as close as we were allowed.

I sat for awhile, watching Kate kill Ally with snowballs and smiled as Kate danced across red brick more than 100 years old. I know I should have told her to stop and get off, but she looked so pretty that I just had to watch. Those two are a pair to draw to. Ally has decided she's going to be a warrior princess when she grows us and has no problem letting everyone know that girls are the superior race. After all, we only need boys to propagate and after that they aren't necessary. I have no idea where she got that from, and when I asked her she couldn't remember.

Or when we went to Ally's soup day at school. The little boy next to the husband informed him, once he realized he was Ally's grandfather, that he wasn't old enough to father children and the husband needn't worry. The husband nearly had a hysterical meltdown of laughter in the lunchroom, but saved it for me when we left. We actually had to pull the car over to the side of the road we laughed so hard. Seriously, can you imagine? These kids are 8 and 9 years old.

The lil monsters spent the night and are now home. I thank God every single day for the blessings that come with grandkids. I don't know what I'd do without them.
