Lynn Rush, the author of Violet Midnight, is a talented writer. Not only that, but she knows how to market. Just last week she held a Facebook party in which I participated. Not only was it fun, it showcased Lynn's marketing abilities. That got me to thinking. I've blogged about the book, the cover reveal, and have taken part in the marketing fun. However, I haven't READ the book. I took care of that this past weekend. Five Star Review ***** After a car accident,in which Emma loses her parents, she wakes to a tattoo on her wrist that glows whenever she's near a vampire. Her eyes change from brown to violet, her skin is unable to be pierced, and she can 'call' objects from her car and they appear in her hands. Not only that, but she doesn't sleep, eat, or drink, and her body temperature falls to an uncomfortable degree. For two years she's struggled to keep her identity as a vampire hunter secret, a lonely venture that is not conducive to her personality. When her best friend Ava interrupts her activities, Violet Midnight must perform 'mind wipes' to keep her new-found talents from being exposed. Emma meets Jake at a party and the attraction is immediate. Jake follows her as she takes care of business and accidentally gets caught in the hunt. Jake asks Emma about her tattoo and shows her his, a design that covers his shoulders also obtained two years ago. (However there is a darkness associated with his.) Their connection is strong and she begins to train him to hunt vampires. She also shares with him journals she received from the hunter that trained her. Conflict arises when people show up to discourage Jake from pairing off with Emma. They claim he will only hurt her in the long run. He agrees as there is something in his past that may harm them both. Soon they will each have to make impossible choices. Violet Midnight is a new take on the vampire genre. The book is a fast read and I never got bored. Rush's MC is strong, capable, and sexy. (As is Jake.) Exactly what you want in vampire hunters. Rush's writing style keeps you moving from page to page. I can say with complete confidence that I will read the next book in the series. Great job, Lynn!

I'm off to buy the book. It sounds just like something my daughter would like.
