Click above for the Page-Turner audio with James P. Blaylock I am a late comer to podcasts. I wasn't even sure what they were, but knew a fellow author was starting a monthly podcast so I clicked over to listen. I learned a lot about the author James P. Blaylock. He is an engaging speaker and listening to Rob and Karai was impressive. Their voices are clear and of course the subject matter, Sci-Fi and fantasy, made me want to listen all the more. In addition, I discovered that downloading and then uploading an audio file was easy. It was causing me stress, but there was no need to be worried. Directions are self-explanatory, finding the file easy and then uploading it was a breeze. The last thing I need is more stress. I messaged over a few questions for Rob to answer and discovered I had completely forgotten about all the interviews I used to do. I did a ton and they are here on this page going back to 2012 nicely archived into my webpage. I love learning about new marketing techniques and checking out other authors. Listening to The Page-Turner Podcast was a real treat. As always, please like and share this blog. It keeps me from biting my fingernails and getting indigestion. Interview with Robroy McCandless a.k.a. R.A. McCandless Why did you start a podcast? Karai had been hosting a different podcast about the supernatural and wanted to dip into author interviews. She first asked me to be her guinea pig for an author interview, and then flipped the tables on me and asked me to help host! How does it affect your marketing? It’s meant to be a benefit to the listeners, both as readers and writers. It also provides another touch, a way to know Karai and me as readers and writers, how we see each author and their works, the things that intrigue and interest us, and how they apply in our own writing. Is it difficult to organize? Not terribly difficult. Right now, we have a goal to do one interview a month. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but we strive to read the author’s latest book and base a lot of our questions off of that. Karai and I also have a lot of discussions about the author and their work before we conduct the interview. What do you like best about podcasts? Meeting the authors is really great. I personally enjoy having read their work and then getting the opportunity to ask them questions that came up as I was reading. It’s almost like each other is a friend of mine and I’m actually one of their close circle of readers. How do you get your material? We ask authors that we like or know, and source through publishers/agents when we can. How long does it take to prepare to host a podcast? We book the author and work around his/her schedule, read the book and discuss, and prepare questions and thoughts over the course of about four to five weeks. Obviously, we aren’t completely focused on one interview over the period of time, and some books read faster than others, but for now, that’s the timeline we’re most comfortable with. Thanks Rob for your cooperation in helping me get this blog out. I really appreciate your time. To learn more or to listen to the podcast click here.
