I have always wanted to write. Especially children's books. I wanted to find a way to reach kids growing up in a toxic environment. More than anything I wanted to give them hope.

Journeys, The Adventure of Leaf, is about redemption and resurrection. On a kids level it is about a leaf who is separated from her twig and goes on a journey of self discovery. 

Last week my littlest granddaughter asked me to write a story for her. Since I hold the rights to The Gathering of the Winds. I am tweaking it and using her name as one of the characters.

By doing this I rediscovered the joy in writing for kids. The way their faces light up, the excitement that someone would actually publish something just for them. A book they can take to school to show their teacher and friends. Of course it helps when the gkid won the award at school for most joyful. Everything makes her happy.

Honestly though, there is no better feeling than making a gkid smile.
