BEFORE Scared shitless is how I feel. I have beeen on IV meds for years, battled Crohn's and sepsis. I have struggled with infected fingers, AND I am the 1% of people who develop psoriasis from Remicade. But, nothing has scared me more than getting 4 epidural shots in my back. I have no idea why, I just am. God knows I've put it off long enough. They are doing this as diagnostic to see if it is the nerve root or the facet joints that are causing the pain. I really don't care. I have done the back exercises, been to physical therapy, and crawled out of bed on my hands and knees. Uh oh. I am going in. AFTER
I am out of recovery and I can admit to myself that what I was terrified of, was that the shots wouldn't work. Boy was I wrong. The left side HAS NO PAIN! The right side still gives me some grief but the doc said I can come in for another epidural if it isn't gone in a few days. I cannot believe it took me so long to have this done, but when you are poked and prodded as much as I am you shy away from more. Seriously folks, get 'er done if you have back pain. It doesn't matter if it is inflammatory or osteoarthritis you will feel so much better. You might experience some initial pain, but the happy juice makes you forget all about it. If this lasts me just a week it is worth it and if I get a year out of it, I will be gloriously happy. I can even imagine swimming again without enduring days of incredible pain.
