I fell in love with C.E. Murphy's writing. When I received SPIRIT DANCES I was hoping for a book that would keep me reading and I wasn't disappointed.
Joanne Walker, the main character, shaman, and police woman, came fully fleshed even though I didn't read the other books in the series. Joanne finds herself in the middle of a murder and she's the only one who can handle it. At the same time, she's falling for Captain Michael Morrison, her boss. She's also struggling with her new Shamanistic skills which in many cases left me laughing.
Ms. Walker is tall, exceptionally so, and she's not perfectly perfect so I was immediately drawn to her. The book is fantastic mind-candy and kept me happily occupied for two days.
The writing is excellent, the pace is smooth, and the humor is fun. I didn't think I'd like reading about human transformation, but the author handled it with ease and expertise and for that I thank her as I now have a whole new genre to read.
Now I can't wait to get my hands on C.E. Murphy's other books. I am sure they will keep me entertained for hours.
