Science Fiction Meets Quantum Computing #paralleluniverses #quantumcomputing #sciencefiction8/10/2016
Meet the D Wave the first quantum computing company. What is quantum computing? The question might be better phrased as what is the nature of reality because that is what quantum computing is all about. It is the world of quantum mechanics where the interaction of subatomic particles is nothing like what we witness in day to day life. Quantum physics is wacky. It is the very small nature of our reality and nothing behaves the way logic tells us it should. In the quantum world nothing really exists except in a world of probabilities that of course can be changed by its very observation. See yesterday's blog post here. Our world is 3 dimensional where objects exist in specific places and at specific times. Not so with quantum mechanics. You would think the building blocks of our reality would be the same no matter how big or how small, but you'd be wrong. Quantum computing takes those building blocks and punches a hole in reality. In fact, a quantum computer can pull information from more than one reality. Yes, that's what I said. I will clarify, a parallel reality. Um, multiple parallel realities. This new computer can solve problems that we've never even considered. This puppy can take every possible solution and choose the solution most probable, or the one that uses the least amount of energy, in under a second. Our world is made up of energy and conservation is always a priority, hence the solution that uses the least amount of energy is the correct one, though you can still chose through the other solutions the computer gives you. Like quantum mechanics, nothing is written in stone. We are, therefore, the creators of our own universe though in a very tiny inexplicable way. We can also mess it up and humankind is known for that. Which brings me back to my current problem: the changes in the world today. Last night, we adults got to talking Bible on the telephone driving my husband, who was watching an old black and white movie, nuts. In any case, we felt like we were on to something. (Amazing what bored people can come up with.) That something started to make us a little nervous so I will share it with you. I've read the Bible, our son studies the Bible. There is a big difference between our memories but there are some things on which we agree. We used the King James Bible because there have been NO revisions since 1611. There have been corrections and some textual changes like feare to fear and darke to dark and a few other changes like from Germanic print to Roman and a few more changes like: TOWARDS has been changed to TOWARD 14 times. BURNT has been changed to BURNED 31 times. AMONGST has been changed to AMONG 36 times. LIFT has been changed to LIFTED 51 times. YOU has been changed to YE 82 times. Click here for more. And so on. But there are some changes that mystified all of us and it is those I will share. Before I do, I want you to think about parallel realities. They are exactly the same, but maybe blue is red and red is blue or one Bible says this and one Bible says that. If you go that far and you accept the reality of quantum computing, it isn't a far reach to start wondering if things might bleed over from one dimension to the next. Here are our perplexities: Exodus 31:19 All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male. I just don't remember it. Matrix as womb is possible, I don't remember it used that way. And I can't find it as a change so it was either always this way or someone or something changed it. Isaiah 11:6 "6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.” Perhaps you can make a case for this being a misquote that it was always the wolf laying down with the lamb. It's possible, but I don't remember it and neither does anyone else. Luke 17:31 “In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.” I remember possessions, but it is now stuff. Could be textual, but whoever made that change was a moron and it isn't listed as a valid change anywhere that I can find. Luke 20:24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's. It's a talon as least that's how I remember it and it is not listed as a change. Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations. Preached not published. We all had a high five on that one. Isaiah 36:12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you? I won't even comment on that one as it is too ridiculous. On that note, I will let you research on your own. With changes happening in our world today faster than the speed of light, seriously speaking, it will be hard to keep up with them all. One must always remember that minds are notorious for slipping a few cogs and memories coming out lopsided. Still, this has been fun, if not a little weird and I've plenty of fodder to feed my novels with mysterious conflicts for years to come. Comments are closed.
