![]() I know I'm late, but I'm Pacific time so it's only 1 pm here. And instead of urging you to purchase my superbly crafted paranormal romance with a dash of horror novel, I thought I'd talk about Halloween. *grin* Oh, and before I get started, there seems to be a conundrum about the ending of A Shadow of Time. One deliberately made of course. I suppose it was more of a trick than a puzzle, but some people get it and some people don't. *taps fingers* At Shadow's one year anniversary I will post about the ending. If you'd like to send me your version e-mail me at [email protected]. Yes, the book has a happy ending, and yes it has given people nightmares. But that's just the way of things. Halloween First off, Samhainophobis is the fear of Halloween. Why someone would be scared of a holiday where people give out candy is beyond my understanding. As long as the candy is chocolate they won't get any tricks from me. Promise... Halloween is the second largest holiday after Christmas. Now who would have thought? Some say the birthplace of Halloween is Ireland. No wonder my husband's family is a bit off. Must be that Celtic blood. Say, did I ever tell you about our ghost hunting? We used to sit in graveyards with our voice recorders. We never caught anything, but let me tell you, a friend of mine, whose name will remain undisclosed, could automatic write like no ones business. Someday, I'll write a book about our experience. Though I must admit that writing novels does feel a bit like channeling. If you wear your clothes inside out and walk backwards you will see a witch on Halloween night. That's something I can't do at work. It will have to wait until I get home. November 1st is All Saints Day. All Hallows Eve is the night before All Saints Day. Hence, Halloween. I dunno, somehow that one doesn't seem quite right. In Great Britain turnips are used instead of pumpkins. I have to wonder, do turnips have seeds? What about my pumpkin seeds? I scrape the pumpkin, wash the seeds in salt water and stick them in the oven. They are an awesome treat. A Peanut's cartoon in a 1951 comic strip is credited with the spread of nationwide trick or treating. What I want to know is where do the Wiccan's fit in? Oh, yeah, my husband's family. Here's a good one. The host of a Halloween party bakes a cake. She puts a thimble inside. The guests arrive for goodies and fun. When the cake is cut, whoever gets the thimble will be unlucky in love for one year. Bet our host will get sued if the thimble causes someone to choke. *slaps knee* Those are my Halloween fun things to know about me and the holiday. Now get all dressed up and head out to party! *hugs* Louann 11/2/2012 08:15:20 am
I thought I was the only one outside of Wicca who knew what Samhain was!! Just how our major religion took all the preceding religious festivals and adapted them! Good luck and my prayers to all CMP authors and staff who need support during this tough time.

Thank you for stopping by. We really appreciate the support. And yes, I do know how to do my research! Plus, there are a few Wiccans in the family. Comments are closed.
