First off, I've never taken a course on graphic design. I know you can tell but hey, I'm trying here. I think it's fun and I had no idea I could do this for FREE! Head on over to www.canva.com to begin the process of teaching yourself how to make some pretty awesome graphics. It is so simple you will kick yourself for not trying it before. I've made a lot of mistakes, but that's OK it's all a learning process. I've made over one hundred designs and have about ten I find acceptable, some I like, none I love. This graphic (up there) is one I made yesterday. I'm not happy with it. Why? First off, you can see where the block of black begins on the fairy. I like my graphics to blend in more. I do like the letters that just scream kid at you, though. Those were a nice find. I did change the blurby letters into normal ones and they are OK, but not eye catching. This one is okay. I think the letters are too blocky and too normal. I'm not sure what I want, but this isn't it. I like this one. Well, except for the all caps. It was a new graphic I wanted to try. Oh, and if you go to bitly.com you can make your own link using your book name and connect it to a buy link. That was interesting to learn. I like this one too, but can you see what I left out? Yep, the URL. I can fix it, but those are things you have to think about if you enjoy graphic design. Plus, I've noticed I'm big on black. This one is moving in on love. Bettysue created the graphic in the middle and I did the rest. I like it because it homey, sweet, and pretty much portrays us as we are. We like giving things away so we decided to go all out and make ourselves a logo. Really, the more I look at it the move I love it. You can visit us at www.threeheartsbearinggifts.weebly.com.
I have more graphics, but I won't bore you with them. I think what you are designing directly affects what you are thinking. Innocent Blood is a bit on the dark side and Three Hearts Bearing Gifts is light, airy, and fun. If you haven't already done so, grab a copy of Innocent Blood. Reviews are coming in and people like it. And if you have a free moment, please shoot my mother-in-law, Audrey Carroll O'Brien a quick prayer. She's a fantastic woman facing a tough battle. She needs all the help she can get. So thank-you in advance. Have a wonderful weekend. 3/10/2015 12:06:32 am
Hey, Louann :-) Fun post. I enjoy playing with graphics, too. Like you, I never took a class, but I've always been artsy (draw and paint). The free programs are great, and I think you get better the more you experiment with them. Praying for your MIL.
