We are a nation of immigrants and as such have a unique outlook when pondering the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) plan that was tacked onto the short term funding bill. Chuck Schumer [VIDEO] ignores the fact that DACA does not need to be addressed until March and so he set the stage for one enormous head fake away from the memo.
In case you didn't know DACA addresses children who were brought into our country illegally by undocumented immigrants. These children have grown up in the United States and are unfamiliar with their country of origin. Until today, Democrats refused to vote for a spending bill until they had an agreement on a fix for DACA, but all that changed this morning when the Senate passed the government short term spending bill. If this was truly about DACA, Schumer would have taken the bill he received on Friday instead of the one made available over the weekend. This makes me glance sideways to see what is really happening instead of what government officials want me to see. Covering up release of memo A reportedly explosive four page memo was given to all House members on Thursday, January 18, 2018. The memo is said to contain FISA abuses, particularly the dossier compiled by Fusion GPS. Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Mark Meadows said he was "shocked" by the findings he and his fellow Republicans have made. Meadows demanded that the memo, detailing abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), related to the special counsel's investigation of potential Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election, be released to the American public immediately. Meadows went on to say that, "all Americans can judge for themselves," adding, "Part of me wishes that I didn't read it because I don't want to believe that those kinds of things could be happening in this country that I call home and love so much." The hashtag #releasethemeno has gone viral on Twitter and other social media sites. I find it interesting, since Democrats are at issue here, that the government shut down happened on Friday, eclipsing ##releasethememo on most news sites. That is not to say that my beliefs are firmly entrenched here, but I do find it very coincidental that the two instances happened so close to one another, thereby arousing my suspicions.
