A Review

A dark mass heads toward Earth. Astronomers are at a loss. They believe it is a  form of dark matter, yet the gut reaction is that this 'cloud' is more than it  seems. The Vatican calls for a counsel of religions where all major churches  send representatives. No one knows what to do or how to stop the mass from  coming.

Charlene St John, newly widowed, is a world famous singer that as  a child experienced the supernatural. She is a good person and uses her voice to  inspire the people of Earth. Once she discovers she has terminal cancer, she  heads to Mexico to perform her last concert. While there, she seeks out the Lady  of Guadalupe, said to be the Virgin Mary.

Mama G, world famous seer and  psychic, is aware that something heads toward Earth carrying with it the  possible destruction of humankind. She senses and 'sees' the oncoming evil  attack, doing everything in her power to thwart the malevolence headed her  way.

Dave Hampton, anchor of a television program, is picking up strange  vibes from the dark cloud. He feels the oncoming shadow heralds the end though  he does not know why he feels that way. He presents his opinion in an ongoing  television series about the mass and what it means for humanity.

Tyler  Michaels, a first-class surgeon, loses his wife and their unborn child while he  operates on an accident victim. Filled with loss, in friendship he turns to Rae, a sympathetic nurse who has had her share of hardship. She feels the effects of  the dark cloud and assists Tyler in opening up to the 'good' forces that  surround them both.

Each person brings their own unique abilities (and  guides) to fight the evil that is overpowering Earth. On the 'other side', dark  forces gather. Their minions on Earth assassinate the President of the United  States. POTUS dies and is taken to the 'other side' where he must choose his  path for either good or evil. Shortly thereafter, the dark forces kidnap his son  and take him to Los Angeles.

Good and evil combine in influencing the  people of Earth. The Fallen Masters are those spirits that have done exceptional  good during their lives on Earth. Each Fallen Master, paired with one human  being, directs their human counterpart toward the good. Only a unique set of  circumstances will gather them together to take down the evil forces that  threaten humanity.

Kudos to Edward's for creating an epic novel that  reminds us of the evil in the world today. While the writing was sometimes  clunky, it was everything you might expect from a pre-apocalyptic book. I  wondered, after-all, how could one not, seeing as to whom Edward's is, where he  got his information.

Times being what they are, it will make you look at the  world a little differently. That I can promise you.

I had planned to spend the weekend on my back deck, laying in the sun, reading.

Not.

It was too hot. 100 plus is not conducive to outdoor living.

Then, I thought, I'd head inside and work on my next novel.

Not.

Turning on the air conditioner, I fell onto the couch and spent the rest of the day reading John Edward's new book, Fallen Masters.

I don't know a lot about John Edward except that he's psychic and appears on television shows. I was surprised when I received his ARC in the mail and realized that this was the John Edward. That alone was enough to entice me. Imagine a psychic writing fiction about the end of the world. Since I write apocalyptic novels, I thought humm, might be worth a read.

Right away, I realized that John Edward's and I had similar thoughts. I had always imagined heaven to be a place that we create. I'd vowed long ago that when it was my turn to cross the only thing in my mind was going to be light. After that, I wanted heaven to be what it is, not what I want it to be.

We also agree on multiple dimensions. It's the only thing that makes sense. Reincarnation isn't possible because time is not linear. Oh, we perceive it to be, but it's not. So why do people 'remember' past lives? (Myself being one of them.) I concluded that our soul exists in many dimensions and we can view those dimensions as long as we are aware of them. As you will see in A Shadow of Time, dimensions can be accessed and are by my characters.

I also believe that some dimensions do not meet completion. They are born and then they die. Perhaps the souls invested in that dimension just aren't ready to take it farther. Or maybe something is left out or undone making it impossible to complete. Just like some babies are born that don't survive or lives that get cut short. Dimensions can mimic us in more ways than one.

Obviously, I have an active imagination.

On Saturday, after reading until my eyes were buggy, I fell asleep and had the most bizarre dream. I won't go into it here, just suffice it to say that it was a strange one which when I awoke, had me grabbing Edward's book and reading more.

Finally, my husband dragged me out of the house and onto the boat where we had a nighttime swim. I love swimming when it's dark and just the stars light up the night. Except for the sparkly toenail polish that still freaks me out. I'm sure a denizen of the deep is eyeing my toes, waiting in anticipation for me to float so it can bite off my foot.

Sunday morning I woke up to my dog Gus, giving me that pitiful look he has when his kibble bowl runs low. Only this time it was out. Not that he was starving, he gets his wet meal at night, but he was looking at me and waiting...

I fed him and went back to the couch where I finished Fallen Masters.

Like I said in the review, the writing was a little clunky, but this was an uncorrected proof so I gave the novel some slack. And there were times when I lost what was happening because believe me, the novel reads fast. I like the fact that Edward's uses short chapters. I enjoy seeing each personality afresh as a new page starts.

I found it creepy to read about the 'dark' forces and wondered if somehow Edward's might have some insight as to what goes on on the 'other side.' He speaks of coincidence as 'teachable' moments. As I go forward, I'm going to check out coincidences a little bit more--perhaps finding some shred of a teachable moment that is designed just for me.

I'd recommend Fallen Masters if for nothing else, the challenges it will apply to your everyday living. It's kinda fun to think that maybe, after all is said and done, we're here for nothing more than to pick good over evil.

Happy reading!

*hugs*

Just wanted to say that I read John Edward's other books and loved them. Can't wait for this one to come out.

I just HAVE to put this out there. The most incomprehensible coincidence just happened to me. It was truly a 'God' thing. I can't say what it was, but I had chills.

That is too cool.
