Saw the orthosurgeon today and the nurse took out my stitches. I had a SLAP repair done. That means the cartilage surrounding the whatchamacallit was torn and they had to fix it. I also had a bone spur removed. Because all is well I have been referred to physical therapy which will help me get my arm back. What I didn't expect was the pain. I'm telling you, this hurts. It in no way compares to a good attack of Crohn's disease, but it still hurts. And I've lost my range of motion. I don't know where it went, but if you find it, send it back. Right now, I'm happy to be able to bend my elbow. I had my Remicade infusion on Monday. As I was settling in, I was explaining things to my nurse who noticed my arm sling. She was amazed I was there. I told her my gastrodoc told me it was fine, but then she pointed to the woman in the chair next to me. "She has MRSA, you know." MRSA is one of those antibiotic resistant staph infections and here I sat with several open wounds. Well, the IV was in, the drug beginning its way into my blood. I'm sure they would have understood if I had chosen to get up and walk out, but the fear of Crohn's overrode my fear of MRSA. Now that I've come down from pain pill heaven, I don't think it was the wisest decision I ever made. In fact, had I not been in pain pill heaven, I would have left and rescheduled. So, that is something to consider if you are having surgery for any reason. My typing skills have picked up. I could only type a few sentences on Monday and here I am trying to attempt a full blog. Since I haven't blogged about Crohn's lately, due to all this shoulder stuff, I thought I would introduce you to some wonderful places that have given me some insight, support, and assistance when desperately needed. This is a great place for informative information and support: https://www.facebook.com/CrohnsDiseaseHealthline This is the MAP Vaccine site. There is a growing group of people who believe that Crohn's may be caused by a virus. Definitely worth checking out: https://www.facebook.com/crohnsmapvaccine Support site. It's a closed group, but if you have Crohn's they will let you in: https://www.facebook.com/groups/10932005261/ Another great site for UC and Crohn's: https://www.facebook.com/groups/crohnsandulcerativecolitisirelandpartnersupport/ And as always, you can contact me at any time if you are looking for support. I have a contact page and you can shoot me your question through there. I never would have believed I would feel this great again so I am telling you there IS the right medication for you. Sometimes it just takes awhile to find it. (((hugs))) Louann
