The last month has been BUSY with two new releases from two different publishers. Gearing up for something like that takes timing.
Introducing: Innocent Blood--a different kind of love story. Danny Fisk has a secret no one outside his family would believe. Danny sees things others can’t: like ghosts and the future. In his teens, he used drugs to escape his gifts, but with help from his family, Danny cleaned up his life. For fifteen years, he lived the American Dream. He had a loving wife, kids, a great job, and proud parents. That ended when renewed pressure from his abilities drove him back to drug abuse. Now, Danny’s on a mission to save as many as he can from the streets that would destroy them all. Pursued by corrupt cops, drug cartels and his own inner demons, Danny must find a way to survive his gifts. If not, he’ll continue a downward spiral that could cost him the lives of those he’s trying to save. As well as his own life. Love comes in many guises and it also comes with pain. In an imperfect world we cannot help but to fall in love with imperfect people. Sometimes those individuals are our own children. We don't fully understand our genetic make-up, but I am sure however, that expressed genes play an important part in drug abuse. What is an expressed gene? Simplistically, think of it as a physical book. As long as it remains closed it doesn't come to life, but the minute you open it and begin to read, what was once closed is now free to be what it was meant to be. Turning this gene on could be anything: stress, fear, abandonment or whatever. I also had the opportunity to interview a young woman facing drug rehabilitation. She explained to me that many drug addicts are just seeking a family. Many come from broken families or families inundated with drug and alcohol abuse. What the kid on the street wants is a family and if she/he doesn't have one, he/she will create one anyway they can. From that, one cannot help but understand the explosion of gang activity. Let's face it, life is hard. From my own experience I have found that many sensitive individuals turn to alcohol and drugs. Most can't cope with life and the pain and heartbreak it brings. Having experienced both alcohol and drug abuse in my own family, I wanted to bring a powerful story to life so that those who experience such things will find comfort. One thing I want to express most importantly is NEVER GIVE UP. In Innocent Blood you will meet Danny Fisk. He's a good kid with some unusual abilities. You see, Danny can see the future. And no one believes him. He can also see ghosts, another gift that hampers his ability to grow from a youth into an adult. Hopefully, this book will make you wonder about Danny. Are there individuals born with these gifts? I'm here to tell you, yes, there are. While this story is entirely fictional, I hope it strikes home how difficult it is to raise a child who is different. Welcome to Innocent Blood. Welcome to Danny's world. Comments are closed.
