What an exciting addition to CMP's list of great young adult novels. Author – Lindsey R. Loucks Genre – YA Paranormal/Fantasy Romance Publisher - Crescent Moon Press Release Date - May 15, 2013 Blurb: Leigh Baxton is terrified her mom will come back from the dead -- just like the prom queen did. While the town goes beehive over the news, Leigh bikes to the local cemetery and buries some of her mom’s things in her grave to keep her there. When the hot and mysterious caretaker warns her not to give gifts to the dead, Leigh cranks up her punk music and keeps digging. She should have listened. Two dead sorceresses evicted the prom queen from her grave to bury someone who offered certain gifts. Bury them alive, that is, then resurrect them to create a trio of undead powerful enough to free the darkest sorceress ever from her prison inside the earth. With help from the caretaker and the dead prom queen, Leigh must find out what’s so special about the gifts she gave, and why the sorceresses are stalking her and her little sister. If she doesn’t, she’ll either lose another loved one or have to give the ultimate gift to the dead – herself. Interview with Lindsey Hi, Lindsey. Congratulations on your new book. Tell us, how long does it take you to write a novel? It takes as little as three months, but it depends on the book and how much real life interferes with writing. Editing can take me anywhere from four months to a year. I'm slow but I'm learning to go faster! I'm a slow editor, too. Takes me forever. What do you do when you are not writing? Reading! Oh, and hanging out with my BF and being a lowly servant to my cat Jesse. LOL, I get that. My dogs are my master. Do you have a day job as well? I work as a K-12 library media specialist. I get to talk about books all day and throw books at students (no, not literally) and get paid for it! I've always wanted to work in a library. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Finding time to write. Yes, I have summer breaks, but if I only wrote during summers, I would go mad! My head is too full of ideas and I can't get them all written down fast enough! Do you work with an outline, or just write? A little of both. If I outline, it's not super detailed and the characters will fill in the blanks for me. If I don't outline, I usually have a vague idea of where I'm going so I don't get too lost. Bio: Lindsey R. Loucks works as a school librarian in rural Kansas. When she's not discussing books with anyone who will listen, she's dreaming up her own stories. Eventually her brain gives out, and she'll play hide and seek with her cat, put herself in a chocolate induced coma, or watch scary movies alone in the dark to reenergize. She's been with her significant other for almost two decades. Links: Add The Grave Winner to Goodreads. Check out Lindsey’s website. Follow Lindsey on Facebook. Follow Lindsey on Twitter. Congratulations, Lynn, on your latest novel, Violet Dawn. Blurb: Emma's love saved Jake from life as a vampire. But their happily ever after is threatened by a savage Vamp seeking retribution for destroying the Avenos Trinity of Evil. A mysterious stranger enters the mix, coinciding with the first Vamp attack in months. Emma's new friendship, and the suspicion and deceit surrounding it, further drives a wedge between her and Jake. To complicate things, Emma is bitten by a Vamp with abilities no one has ever seen before, and that bite has left its mark. A mark that might tear Jake and Emma apart forever... Biography: Driven to write, Lynn Rush often sees her characters by closing her eyes watching their story unfold in her mind. Lynn Rush is a pen name that is a combination of two sources – Lynn, the first name of her mother-in-law, who passed away and Rush – since the author is a former inline speed skater and mountain biker. All of Rush’s books are dedicated to Lynn, her namesake. Rush holds a degree in psychology from Southwest Minnesota State University and a master's degree from the University of Iowa. Originally from Minneapolis, Rush currently enjoys living in the Arizona sunshine by road biking nearly 100 miles per week with her husband of 15 years and jogging with her two loveable Shetland Sheep dogs.
