I intended to put this up over the weekend, but family intruded. Running after seven grandkids is exhausting. Cleaning up after them is.... well let's just say it took me hours to complete. Today and tomorrow I'm happy to have Joanne Brothwell, another of CMPs awesome authors on my blog. Not only is Joanne pretty, she's talented. I'd like to introduce you to her two new books, Stealing Breath and Vicarious. Biography Joanne Brothwell lives in the country on the Canadian prairie where her stories are inspired by the dead things that appear at her doorstep on a daily basis. Of course, her two pets, a retired police dog with titanium fangs and a feral barn cat missing two toes, make the safety of surrounding wildlife, at best, uncertain. Nicknames are something Joanne has in abundance; most notably “Grumpy Bunny” (her husband), and “Princess with a Sailor’s Mouth” (her friends). She’s known to daydream, and ever since grade school has been accused of having a poor attention span. The truth is, Joanne has an alternate reality inside her head, where characters speak to her, sometimes so loudly (and incessantly) she just can’t hear anything else! Joanne is thrilled to see her alternate universe finally become real with the publication of her novel, Stealing Breath, and her prequel novella, Vicarious. Now, with the sequel Silencing Breath on the way, you can be rest assured you will see much more of Joanne’s writing in the future, as those characters in her head, having tasted the sweet freedom of release, simply refuse to be silenced! http://www.joannebrothwell.com/ Vicarious A Little Moon Tale by Joanne Brothwell Purchase for Kindle Genre: YA ASIN: B007SNCJ5Q Length: Novella Publication Date: April, 2012 Cover art by TBD Even though eighteen-year-old Sarah Ross can’t stop the bodily sensations of other people’s emotions bleeding into her, the desire to stay sane demands that she ignore them. She has enough on her plate already: living in small-town Slave Lake, North Dakota, Sarah is trying to deal with her new responsibility of a full-time job while facing the upcoming loss of her boyfriend, Tyler, and best friends, Kate and Amber, as they prepare to move away for university. Attempting to savour her last few weeks with Tyler before he’s gone, Sarah hopes to spend as much time with him as possible, but is surprised by the sting of rejection when he rebuffs her efforts to be with him. Opting to hang out with her loyal friends instead, Sarah is shocked and sickened to overhear a drunken girl’s gossip at a party: Tyler has been cheating on her. Hell-bent on confronting Tyler, Sarah decides to embrace her ability to sense other people’s emotions, and uses her sixth sense as a tool for exacting sweet revenge on her cheating boyfriend. "Brothwell pens a great short story that held my attention the entire time. Every emotion was easy to feel, the gestures and relationships between characters are well done to the point that I could actually see the action. A totally great short read! " -Hildie McQueen, Author of Desperate Betrayal Stealing Breath by Joanne Brothwell Purchase e-Book Purchase Print Genre: ISBN: 978-1-937254-31-5 Length: Novel Publication Date: March 2012 Cover art by Lillyana Sanches Deep in the backwoods of North Dakota, twenty–one year old Sarah Ross is searching for a missing child when she is attacked by a glowing–eyed, transparent... creature. Sarah survives, destroying the monster by using mysterious abilities she didn’t even know she had. Bloody and bruised, Sarah flees the scene and runs directly into Evan Valente, a handsome, charismatic stranger who helps her back to safety. But what is Evan doing out in the forest at five in the morning? Turning to a healer, Sarah is shocked to learn her eyes bear the mark of the Indigo Child—an evolved human with the ability to feel the emotions of others. But her indigo aura also makes her an easy target for those who wish to consume her powerful essence. Soon, Sarah is falling deeply in love with Evan and wants nothing more than to follow her heart and trust that he is the man he says he is. But she can't ignore the lingering feeling that Evan is hiding a terrible secret. The deeper she digs, the more danger she faces, leading her on a course that will force her to face the darkest, innermost parts of her soul. What people are saying about Stealing Breath... “I particularly enjoyed the many scenes that held me entranced in their gothic eeriness. That creepiness was entwined masterfully within the descriptive passages.” -Night Owl Reviews “I loved the Native American folklore that was woven throughout this story. The legends of the Skinwalkers and of the dark magic was hauntingly intriguing and I was sucked in right away.” -Paranormal Wasteland Reviews "STEALING BREATH stole mine! Compulsive, scary suspense balanced with a tender love story." -Mary Balogh, New York Times Bestselling Author Steph Murray is one of Crescent Moon Press' co-founders. But that's not her only job.
