I get the after Christmas blues. I struggle with it every year. It is a mixture of mild depression, exhaustion, and regret. Perhaps I didn't do enough, maybe I didn't get my husband exactly what he wanted. Maybe it is because another year is shortly to pass.
I love seeing family pictures on Facebook. It is a wonderful experience to see the kids you grew up with share pictures of their kids and grandkids. It reminds you that life goes on and that some of those kids look just like the kids you went to school with. Amazing!
Other friends have finally found their true love after searching for years. For those of you still looking, that special someone is out there waiting for you.
Grandkids grow up and leave the nest. You wonder: did you spend enough time with them? Did you give them a dash of hope and a cup of wonder? Are their good memories and faith enough to sustain them as life sends its inevitable hurdles?
Kids and grandkids, people you have lost, and those still waiting to meet you weave an extraordinary quilt of life.
Even the colors of loss and regret add to the threads that bind us together. Today I will take time to remember, maybe I will cry a little missing those who have gone before me.
Whatever colors I add to my quilt today are welcome. I greet them and fold them into my life to add richness and texture.
These feeling are echoed across the world. It doesn't matter what race or religion you are the feelings are the same.
I will embrace the day I have been given as there is no guarantee I will have another.
Thanks for stopping by and may God bless you.
