I thought I'd do something different today and post some amazing reviews for my fellow CMP authors. Now, I don't give them all the credit because CMP has some awesome editors. They are sharp, tenacious, and spot on when it comes to editing. My goal, as I've said before, is to write a novel that doesn't need editing. That's a nearly impossible task, but then I'm goal oriented. *grin* We'll start today off with Lynn Rush's new series, Violet Midnight. From Amazon reviewer Victoria Smith we get: A kickass heroine and a swoonworthy hero fighting evil Vamps on their college campus...who could ask for more? :D Finished this in 24 hours and just couldn't put it down. The juxtaposition between paranormal elements and the normal college experience I had never seen done like this before and Lynn Rush does it so well. Such a breath of fresh air to the new adult category. Move over contemporary because speculative new adult fiction is here to stay! And good lord the steamy steam between Emma and Jake. So hot and heavy. Bring your fans because this one is scorching! Can't wait for the sequel to learn more about this sexy Vamp hunting duo! Now that's a review worth reading. :0 Next we have Memories of Murder by Lara Nance Dottie, Avid Reader from Amazon, leaves this review: Maeve has bound her powers. She never thought she'd be able hurt anyone, never imagining her powers would be strong enough to kill. After months of healing from the attack and the ordeal with mother, Opal, at their Savannah home, along the Gems, Aunt Ruby and Aunt Pearl, she's ready to face life on her own. But, her life is going to take a new direction. She accepts a position as nurse practitioner at a retirement community in the small town of Rolling Gap. And, already, things aren't looking up. On her first day, she witnesses a suicide. She came for quiet and finds turmoil. Golden Acres, as it is fondling called by the townies, has a sordid past that comes back to haunt this newbie to community. A one-time asylum resided on the grounds, as well as a cemetery where the remains rest of those who died while locked away in the cruel asylum with it's sadistic doctor. Paul Sutton, now sheriff of Rolling Gap, takes over for his father when he suffers from early onset of Alzheimer's. His dementia and decline happen rapidly, and George Sutton becomes a resident of Golden Acres. Paul discovers a case his father was working with Nellie Dunbar, Rolling Gap's local crazy. Her great-grandmother was one of those lost to the cruelties of the asylum but she convinces George to investigate the old asylum, and Paul takes over. But, Maeve becomes involved in the case when things don't add up, and Paul finds himself draw to the nurse practitioner. Can he accept Maeve with her witchy abilities? Can Maeve accept Paul's attention after her attack and near rape? Memories of Murder by Lara Nance is a paranormal romance / romantic suspense centered around a century old asylum. Though most of the asylum is gone, the main building still houses the dementia unit of Golden Acres, and the cemetery remains hidden on the grounds somewhere. After Maeve experiences strange occurrences, she decides to investigate the asylum, if for nothing else than to bring peace to Nellie. She encourages Paul, and after a couple of supernatural accidents, he's convinced he needs to follow through with the investigation too. He soon discovers Maeve's secret she's hiding. All this time, Maeve's family (Opal, Ruby, and Pearl) take up residence in Rolling Gap after some ominous premonitions and Pearl's odd vision of events yet to come. They've come to help, offering protection for Maeve and Paul as well as their abilities to excise the evil surrounding Golden Acres. Memories of Murder is an exciting paranormal romantic suspense with a heroine, Maeve, who isn't sure of herself anymore, not since killing her attacker. Could she accidentally lose control, could she kill again? Instead of finding out, she binds her magic away, right at the time she might need it the most. Paul, the hero of our story, finds himself trapped in the small town where he grew up. He thought his life belonged to military, instead, he's the new sheriff of his hometown. Neither character has ended up where they thought their lives would be. But, together, each comes to realize that they're just where their supposed to be, where they're needed the most, where they want to be. Memories of Murder was a quick little read, turning pages filled with magic and suspense. Celtic magic mixes with a sickness long existing from the old asylum. A long forgotten heritage begging for release, loves lost and found, and a mystery to be solved. An excellent read to warm chilly nights or heat up those air conditioned summer afternoons. I recommend this read to a variety of readers, paranormal romance lovers, romantic suspense lovers, and magic lovers will all want to give this enticing little read a try. I very much enjoyed it. 5 out of 5 fairy kisses. Next to last is Soul Reborn by Jean Murray. This review was posted on Amazon by DarkBloodyVamp. I bet you can guess what series this is about. This is the first book in the series by Jean Murray and I want to start off by saying I was blown away by this book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series. This book had elements that would satisfy not only fans of paranormal romance but also urban fantasy fans as it combined Egyptian Gods and Goddesses, the walking dead, betrayal, and the world at peril against the backdrop of a hot and passionate romance. The premise of the book is that a strange plague has infected the world that has turned humans into the walking dead who crave the hot blood of humans. The only defense the humans have against these walking dead is a league of Nehebkau huntresses who made it their goal to eradicate them from the world especially for Lilly. Until that point in time that was her the only thing that was important to her until her encounter with a strange, powerful creature who turned her existence upside down. The moment she meets Asar she finds herself drawn to him and vice versa. Who wouldn't be drawn to the God of the Underworld who not only radiates power, but seduction with his gorgeous, muscular physique, shoulder length black hair and dark piercing eyes. Asar has his own curse that he has had to endure that has left him with only hate and revenge to fuel him until he meets Lilly. There is something about her that tames and soothes him that he cannot explain since he has no soul to soothe. Yet the more time he spends with Lilly the more he finds himself opening doors within himself that he thought were shut closed for eternity. The building sexual tension between the two of them grows so intense that when they do get together they sizzle off the pages. All I can say is Asar really knows how to rock a woman's world, literally, and the way he is described and what he does will make you wish you had him for yourself. The other thing I want to mention is the author not only did an marvelous job of writing passionate scenes that were so hot that you wanted to put the book down to find your significant other at that very moment, but also writing such strong emotional scenes that you felt your heart ache with pain and sorrow. The secondary character were also so amazing. They didn't appear as filler as some do in other books, but were so well fleshed out that you wanted to know more about them. At some points they provided some wonderful light comic relief within the story with the main characters. This is a must read that will satisfy readers who want not only a hot, passionate romance but also action that will keep you glued to the pages and wanting to know what is going to happen next. I was extremely impressed at how much action did occur in this book and what makes me want to read book 2 is it ends with a cliffhanger. As soon as Book 2 is out I plan to get my copy and savor getting reacquainted with everyone and continuing where the story left off and finding out what is going to happen next with these wonderful characters. Key to the Cursed: Soul Reborn And lastly, I couldn't help but include Gemini Rising. My first baby. From Two Lips Reviews, A Readers Choice Award. Thanks, Merrylee. The last thing Kathryn, children’s book author turned magazine and short story writer, wanted was to move away from her beloved San Francisco. Nevertheless, she and her 13-year-old son Ryan have little choice in the matter when her husband, famous archeologist Jason Kelly, receives a grant to excavate a newly discovered Anasazi village in the Arizona desert. Missing the salt air and misty mornings of the Bay area, Kate hates the dusty heat of Arizona. Morose over the move, she’s resentful when Jason chooses to spend more time at the dig than at home in Sedona. After the comet Eros appears overhead, clouding the skies with red dust, Kate begins having strange, frightening nightmares. Then a gigantic UFO appears in the night sky and the repeating message — PREPARE FOR THE CROSSING — mysteriously appears on her computer screen. When she waves to a Native American woman at the dig, a testy Jason tells her that she must be seeing things because there are no women associated with the dig. What most upsets her, however, is the pure sexual arousal she experiences when Jason introduces her to Noah, a young dig worker just out of university. Similarly attracted to Kate, Noah is more than the sexy green-eyed hunk he appears to be. A thousand years old, he’s been assigned to help Kate and Ryan through the Crossing of Nibiru, the planet humanity has mistaken for a comet. He commands the Nektosha, one of the Galactic Counsel spaceships preparing to rescue the Chosen — the animals and humans picked to reseed Earth following the destruction wrought by Nibiru’s passing. Unbeknownst to Kate, she has been chosen to record the crumbling of Earth’s latest and most advanced civilization. Ryan as well has a calling. Gifted by the aliens with the ability to heal, he will be charged with saving the handful of people who survive the violent earthquakes, floods and shifting of poles on the Earth’s surface. Once Noah announces his true purpose on Earth, Jason refuses to believe in either aliens or the catastrophic end of time. When Noah removes Kate and Ryan to the safety of his ship, Jason’s inability to believe leaves him stranded on earth, launching him on a separate journey that will change not only his narrow outlook of the universe, but the man he grew up to become. Meanwhile, Kate and Noah discover a love so deep that humanity is reborn through their bond, newer and better than it was before. But what will it mean to an Earth recovering from destruction in an intergalactic age? Louann Carroll’s fundamental idea for Gemini Rising came to her in a dream, but the plot is loosely based on actual archeological discoveries relating to Sumerian history and the famous Mayan Calendar. Nibiru actually exists! According to a small group of current conspiracy theorists, the rogue tenth planet will pass through our solar system on its 3,600-year orbit around the sun, dooming Earth to cataclysmic destruction, sometime in December 2012. They contend that NASA is currently tracking Nibiru, but that the information is being kept from the public as part of a worldwide conspiracy. We'll see... Packed with prophesy, pain and passion; with love, devastation and renewal, Gemini Rising is the memorable introduction to what promises to be an epic intergalactic/interdimensional series that will rock sci-fi readers to the core. This first book is set in the near future in the United Socialist States. America is plagued with many of the consequences that today’s conservatives believe we will face if our government continues down its current liberal path. Yet, as frightening as this future world becomes, it didn’t once occur to me to put this book down. Simply put, it's one of the most amazing, yet unsettling books I’ve ever read. For Ms. Carroll, it’s a crowning achievement, so masterfully written it can do nothing but win every award for which it’s certain to be nominated. The mystical love story of Noah and Kate is both sweet and awe-inspiring. It drew so many tears from me in spots that I had to stop reading to mop up the flood. Otherwise, I was completely lost in this book. The ceiling could have fallen in on me and I wouldn’t have noticed. Kate, despite all her initial wailing, resentfulness and depression over each and every danger, adversity and harsh condition she had to face, always rises to the occasion. She is probably a more authentic heroine than we sometimes see in romance novels. Accustomed to Jason’s overbearing and demeaning attitude toward her, she’s a typical woman forced to face adversities so monumental that she’s ill equipped to handle them. Noah, on the other hand, is a complete rock, solid and enduring in his devotion to Kate and to his mission to save humanity. Gemini Rising is a truly superb book, arguably the best futuristic novel to come down the pike in quite sometime. Don't miss it. Its anticlimactic ending will leave you with what Ms. Carroll calls a “haunting echo” of what is to come. So, yea! For my five lip review. Merrylee totally got my book and when that happens, my world just shines. Happy reading everyone! *hugs* Louann
