After sleeping for two days I came awake this afternoon and realized that I'm not young anymore. I also woke up to a break out of erythema nodosum. Erythema nodos are red bumps associated with autoimmune disease and I probably let myself run down too far as I was accomplishing my goal of hiking/walking five miles in one day. While painful, they don't really do anything except cause irritation. Once my flare settles down they too will go away. That's me in front of the Rhyolite train station. The place is falling down but the boards themselves reek of history. You can't help but wonder what it was like during the turn of the last century. If you listen hard enough, you can hear the rustle of skirts and the banging of luggage to heavy for one person to handle. I. Loved. Every. Second.
I had the best time with my BFF Dennis. He always looks out for me and makes me feel special. Even when I drive him nuts. After many many years together that's a good thing. I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. My kids don't get us at all. They think we should be staying in fancy hotels and eating in the best restaurants. Nope. That's not me and that's not him. We are happiest when the stars are shining, there is only the two of us, and of course, our dogs. We love the silence of the night. It is where we are happiest.
