The JERICHO DECEPTION (Due out May 2013) is exactly what it claims to be. A religious thriller meets the CIA where man might control the face of God. Dr. Ethan Lightman designs the Logos machine that uses electrical stimulus along with some complicated coding, to 'tickle' the God spot, creating a profound religious experience in the human test subject. Various arguments are suggested for exactly what the God spot is. Is it a connection to a superior being? Or is it biological? They start off with a monkey then move on to human beings. One monkey experiences a set back. What is the cause? Why is this monkey different than the rest? When funding is cut, a miraculous donation of several million dollars is offered to save the ongoing program. Shortly after, Ethan's partner is murdered and his girlfriend is kidnapped. Then, Ethan is taken to the Mid-East where he is confined in a monastery. He discovers that his Logos machine has been replicated by the U.S. government. The plan is to use the machine to 'change' the religious beliefs of Muslims into Christians, believing this will put an end to an unsolvable war between different belief systems. Will the Logos machine bring humanity together or consign them to an ongoing war forever? While I will admit to wanting an ending that would salvage world peace and bring humanity together, The Jericho Deception never claimed to do that. Instead, the novel is a well-written typical thriller that promises to enterta in you. There are a few places that strain the imagination, such as the case with one Muslim who fails to live up to standard protocol. Still, it's a good vacation or weekend read. Well worth your time and money. Disclaimer: This is an unedited, advance release copy. Comments are closed.
