<--- Hum. The yellow does not match my new colors. I am a frustrated interior decorator which is why I'm always changing my website. Who knows what it will be next week. Probably black and red. I lost my wifi all day and almost had a nervous breakdown. Let's hope THAT doesn't happen again. I am a chatty writer who needs their daily chatting satisfied. Today was not my day. On top of that...
As we discussed last week my doc put me on once weekly Humira shots.
Well, my insurance company denied it. They claim I’ve used up my allowable Humira injections for the rest of the year so no Humira for me.
The first thought that crossed my mind was, you think I like to take this stuff? You think I enjoy sticking a cold needle filled with freezing liquid into my thigh?
I’ve been on the phone to the pharmacy, the insurance company, and my doctor. I’d get mad if I felt better.
I feel like the kid in the movie The Christmas Story, you know, where he gets 'soap poisoning'. It's the fine, you wanna mess with me then I'll show you. I'll just get sick. Ha! THEN you'll give me my Humira.
This whole thing has made me appreciate prednisone. It works and it’s cheap. Granted, the side effects are horrendous. The cost of Humira without prescription insurance for once weekly injections is 28,000.00 per year. It costs me 300.00 per month and I HAVE prescription insurance. If you combine this with the cost of my health insurance, plus the money I put into my health savings account, well I’m not even going to think about it.
It’s depressing.
I am depressed.
It all started when I realized the government has been keeping a comprehensive record of my e-mail correspondence. I assume this means they know I have Crohn’s and since they have every single e-mail I’ve ever sent or received they know me on my worst days and on my best days. They’ve seen my cries for help on the Crohn’s forum, and my co-miserating with my fellow sufferers.
I feel like they snatched my address book with my happy, sad, and mad faces scribbled next to the names. It creeps me out to realize that they know more about my intestines than my husband does! Ack, and what about my e-mails back and forth with my doc?
*Shudder*
And that fight with my girlfriend? Oh, good fodder for someone with a creative mind. I mean do you trust a twenty-something with the details of your personal life?
Glad to see the ACLU filing a lawsuit.
That’s my rant for this week.
Happy reading!
