Last night my husband said, "The Remicade is wearing off isn't it."
At which point I broke out in tears. It's been two weeks since my last infusion and already my stomach is doing push-ups. The gastritis is severe and I tossed up some blood the other day. Still, I hesitate to call my doctor. Why? Because he never calls me back. I'm already on Dexilant and I've already failed Nexium and Prilosec, so I added in Glutagenics a gastrointestinal lining support that is not helping like it did the last time. There isn't much else my gastroenterologist can do. I suppose I could get my hiatal hernia repaired and that is more than likely my next step. I do not want to use another years' vacation on a hospital stay. But, anything is better than this pain. I've lost seven pounds because I can't eat. And when I do eat it comes back up. Most of it anyway. I can no longer consume: A meal. Only little bits throughout the day. Grapes or grapejuice Apples but I do OK on applesauce. Any melon including water, honeydew, etc. No spices of any kind--just salt No hard to digest meat--chicken or fish only No butter, fats, oils, of any kind. Cheese is a nono No tomatoes, sauce or fresh No citrus whatsoever No bread of any kind No dairy of any kind No fruit juice of any kind No soda of any kind Things I can eat: Bananas. YAY for bananas! Applesauce Potatoes Noodles White rice Soup except pea, tomato, or minestrone I haven't even mentioned a burning tongue and throat. And when I say burning, it's like having eczema in your mouth, throat and belly. Is that even possible? Heck, now I've depressed myself. I cannot believe I am looking forward to a bowl of white rice and applesauce for lunch. But I am!
