If someone had said to me just a few months ago that changing your diet can change your life I wouldn't have believed them. I wouldn't have thought that my health could be better and that one could adjust to an extremely restrictive diet.
Certainly not me. Not the lover of chocolate, the adorer of ice cream, the passionate aficionado of chocolate chip cookies in all forms, warm from the oven or frozen in the freezer. That doesn't even include pasta or sauce or butter or sour-dough french bread.
Yet, I've done it and I haven't cheated. I don't know how long I can hold out, but so far so good. I've lost almost 25 pounds, thrown out two blood pressure pills, and am back on an every other week injection of Humira. Oh, and my diabetes is under control.
My stomach is better but still a rather sick puppy. It tolerates very little so I give it very little. I'm pretty much a vegetable, chicken, some red meat, yogurt, honey person. I couldn't do the Humira every week because of the migraines it gives me. I also have a holistic physician now in addition to my gastro and regular MD.
I am still in the process getting the gears in motion with synchronicity. In the meantime, I'm hanging in, adjusting to a new life, and for the first time in a long time, hopeful for the future.

I wanted to share with you a book for my Weekend Reads. It's a new release called Fairies in my Fireplace. For whatever reason, the title really caught my eye. I mean, who would title a book Fairies in my Fireplace? Then I had this imaginative moment of all these fairies jumping out of my fireplace. It was rather pretty, so I thought I'd share.

Fairies in My Fireplace by R.L. Naquin (Carina Press) A Monster Haven Story, book three. A migration of mythical creatures has begun, and more of them are landing on Zoey Donovan's doorstep. As the only Aegis left in the country, it falls to her to protect the Hidden and keep them safe—and her house has become a sanctuary for water sprites, goblins, harpies, djinn and more. Keeping track of her boarders is a full-time job, and Zoey's already got her hands full trying to run her wedding planning business. Good thing she has a resident closet monster to keep her organized, and a hot Reaper boyfriend to help her relax every once in a while. But she can't keep up monster-triage indefinitely, and as more Hidden arrive, it becomes clear that someone—or something—is hunting them.
Happy Reading!
