I have no idea why I was nervous as I've written a ton of radio shows, I know how they work, I know there's a script, and I know what to do.
Didn't matter worth a damn. I was scared to death.
The countdown to showtime threw me a little as the robo voice was British, not that that should have mattered. And Linda Mooney, my host, was awesome and very welcoming. I read a chapter of Gemini Rising and I picked one I would rate G. Why? I wasn't sure I could get through the show otherwise.
My voice shook, my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth, and, according to my son, I read too fast. When it was over, I rewarded myself with a chocolate chip cookie. If you read Crohn's Corner, you'll know chocolate is my downfall. I cannot resist it-ever-and always pay for it.
I did have some callers, but I took up so much time reading, I only heard from Francine. (hands waving hello) Francine is a fellow Amazon Breakthrough Novel Semi-Finalist who was picked up by Amazon Encore. Here's her link, my way of saying THANK YOU FRANCINE! You made my night. http://www.amazon.com/Tennessee-Journal-Francine-Thomas-Howard/dp/0982555067/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1298503472&sr=8-2. Great book, great writer.
I have had the most awesome experience in getting to know fellow writers. There rarely is a feeling of competitiveness and that cannot be said, in my opinion, for any other line of work. Seriously, writers are wonderful people. Of course we tend to be moody and emotional, but since most of us are built that way, we understand each other. I think we were created as emotional beings simply so we can better transcribe our experience onto paper or now-a-days, e-reader format.
My next gig is over at Romance Junkies.com. This Friday they should have the blog up and running. I hope you drop by for a visit.
I'm off to work on Gemini II. Like I said last week, the novel is taking me places I never knew existed. If you have a chance, check out the Amazon Breakthrough Novel contest at http://www.amazon.com/Breakthrough-Novel-Award-Books/b?ie=UTF8&node=332264011. The cut is tomorrow for the pitch stage and after that comes reviews. I don't know when the excerpts will be up, but I promise you tons of fun combing through them. Best of luck everyone!!!!! Louann
