Here's a big shout out to Jennifer Perry and Blog Talk Radio for having me on her show tomorrow at 5pm Pacific and 8pm Eastern. I'll be talking about street-teams.
When I started mine, I had no idea what a street team was except for a vague concept of people running down a busy avenue all carrying my book and shouting, "BUY IT NOW. BUY IT NOW!"
Somehow, that did not ring true for me. It wasn't something I could do. It wasn't honest. I love people, well, when they're not harping on me to do something when I'm sick. /sarc again. I really do. People are delightful. I love their stories, I love to share my anxiety and panic with them. Even my depression. OK OK OK, my conscience is getting to me. This week is Crohn's Awareness Week and I promise to blog on it after the show.
Thanks to Wikipedia, this is the definition of a street team:
A street team is a term used in marketing to describe a group of people who 'hit the streets' promoting an event or a product. 'Street Teams' are promotional tools that have been adopted industry-wide as a standard line item in marketing budgets by entertainment companies, record labels, the tech industry, corporate brand marketers, new media companies and direct marketers worldwide.
See? I wasn't far wrong in my imagination. If you'd like to learn more about street teams, head on over to Jennifer's place and take part in the show. Everyone is welcome.
